Languages & document localization
Floatless generates customer-facing documents — invoices, receipts, and portal invoice views — in English, French, and Spanish. This is presentation-layer localization for documents; your catalog data is not translated.
How the document language is chosen
The language of each document is resolved in this order:
- Customer language — set per customer on their profile (English, Français, Español)
- Quebec default — customers located in Quebec automatically receive French documents (aligned with Quebec's French-language requirements for invoices and commercial communications)
- Organization default — the workspace-wide language configured in Settings → Organization
- English — final fallback
Setting your organization default
Go to Settings → Organization → Default document language. This applies to all customers who have no explicit preference and are not in Quebec.
Setting a customer's language
Open the customer and set their locale to English, French, or Spanish. Clearing it returns the customer to the organization default (or automatic French if they are in Quebec).
Tax registration numbers on documents
Registration numbers you add under Settings → Tax Registrations (GST/HST, QST/TVQ, PST, US state permits) are printed in the invoice "From" block so Quebec and CRA invoice-content requirements are met alongside the language requirement. See the compliance guide.
The console UI language
The console interface itself (navigation, forms, settings) includes English, French, and Spanish with a language switcher on the sign-in page. Your choice is remembered per browser and does not affect the documents your customers receive — those follow the rules above.
