Customer Portal

The customer portal gives customers a self-service place to review billing state without contacting support.

Use the portal to reduce tickets about invoices, payment links, payment methods, and subscription status.

Portal capabilities

Capability Customer can
Invoices View open and historical invoices, download PDFs, and pay outstanding balances.
Payments Review successful or failed payments where available.
Subscriptions See active plans, billing periods, renewal dates, and cancellation state.
Payment methods Add, update, or remove saved payment methods when supported by the gateway.
Billing profile Update billing contact, address, and tax information where allowed.

Setup checklist

  1. Configure invoice design and customer-facing email settings.
  2. Connect payment gateway if customers should pay online.
  3. Confirm portal authentication method.
  4. Test a customer invite in test mode.
  5. Review what customer fields can be edited.
  6. Confirm support escalation path appears in customer-facing content.

Security model

Customer portals should use secure, time-limited access links or authenticated customer sessions. Do not expose internal customer IDs, API keys, webhook secrets, or admin-only invoice controls to customers.
