A small B2B SaaS team charges its sample customer $99 per month. That price includes 10,000 units. Each extra unit costs $0.01. During the month, the customer uses 12,400 units.
These are the sample SaaS company's customer prices, not Floatless API fees. Floatless API access is included in its workspace subscription.
Work through the bill
- Start with the $99 subscription.
- Subtract the included 10,000 units from the recorded 12,400 units: 2,400 billable extra units.
- Multiply 2,400 by $0.01: $24 of overage.
- Add the two lines: $99 + $24 = $123.00, before tax.
Open these exact numbers in the interactive sample. Change the usage, generate a sample draft, and see which lines change. No signup required.
What to verify before using real data
Define the billable unit, the billing timezone, and the aggregation window. Give each usage event a stable identifier so retries do not double-count it. Reconcile the recorded usage with your source system before posting an invoice.
This example uses a single flat overage rate. Tiered pricing, minimum commitments, taxes, and discounts require their own rules. The interactive sample is a browser-only illustration; it does not issue an invoice or collect payment.
Reproduce the workflow in a workspace
Create a product with a base subscription and a metered component. Add a customer and subscription, record usage, and review the resulting draft before posting. Start with test data and compare the amount with a manual calculation.
